With this blog, I want to give you the chance to get a ‘behind the scenes’ look on roomsDB.net, let you know a bit more about its origins, how everything started out and of course what’s new.

So first, let me tell you a bit about me and the history of roomsDB.net. I have finished my postgraduate studies in electrical engineering at the end of 2007 with writing my master thesis at the National Taiwan University in Taipei. Before that I have also studied in Hong Kong (HKUST) and in Singapore (NUS). It was in Singapore where I had the idea to start roomsDB.net. I was looking for accomodation and it was really not easy to find a room because there was no good website for that. So I thought: why not make one myself? Thats why I started to develop singapore.roomsDB.net ! I wanted to create a site that is easy to use, full of vacant rooms and of course free of charge for everybody. I had been working part-time as a web programmer before, so that came in handy for that project.

Now the site is online for 2 years already and what started as a non-profit hobby page has evolved to be one of the leading room rental websites for Singapore. As a matter of fact, in early 2008, the site went professional and is now a registered company in Singapore.

roomsDB.net keeps on growing, there are more and more rooms to choose from every day, more and more people visit the site to find rooms or rent out their rooms. I hope it can be beneficial for you as well. If you have some comments or ideas how to improve the site, please let me know!

    hey its great to hv all these websites..i think im jus a tad lucky to hv homes in sg+hk.. besides solvin accomodation frustration, its gonna be fun learnin more about a new culture too:p *way to go*
